The Oulu Sexual Crime Scandal in Hybrid Media Environment project examines how Finnish media performed when reporting suspected sexual crimes in Oulu in 2018 where suspects were males with refugee background. In this project we research how journalism framed the events, how facts and rumours were circulated between social media and journalism, what kinds of emotional expressions were mobilized on different media platforms and with what objectives and triggers different actors had in debate.
